Mission Motors Can Say: Mission Accomplished
When we first wrote about the Mission One electric motorcycle by Mission Motors, some people were skeptical that it would perform as well as the company claimed. Well, today Mission Motors announced that its e-bike broke the national AMA top speed record for an electric motorcycle at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. The official record-breaking speed was 150.059 mph (241.50 kph), but "lead up to runs for the record saw one-way speeds across the mile stretch at 161mph [259.10 kph]." But not everything was going their way...

Faster than Most Gasoline Competitors
The Mission One wasn't just fast compared to other electric motorcycles. At the BUB Motorcycle Speed Trials at the Bonneville Speedway, the electric motorcycle reached a top speed that was faster than 70% of the gasoline motorcycle present.

Conditions Were Definitely Sub-Optimal
The record was broken despite some "poor salt conditions" on the ground and relatively high speed cross-winds. Not bad, especially for a production prototype and not a custome motorcycle designed just for the task of breaking records at Bonneville.
Edward West, Mission Motors Founder and President said: "We've all known what was possible for the Mission One for some time, and to set this record is very gratifying. It's a watershed moment for electric vehicles and further proof that the era of the electric superbike has begun. Electric is no longer the future of high-performance motorcycling; it is the present."
